Past Presidents Beth Eaby was married on September 18, 2009 to Dr. Jim Sandy. Beth is continuing a busy schedule of lecturing on various topics on Lung Cancer throughout the US and Europe along with her busy practice @ the UNiversity of PA. Cindy Boyer our first President was presented by Crozer Chester Medical Center with the Cerebrate Life Survivors Award on June 6, 2009. Staff members in the radiation therapy and infusion centers unanimously chose Cindy for this award. We also have Cindy to thank for our 2009-2010 membership directory. Mary Turchi will be speaking in Tampa @ IOL in November. Anyone going to IOL please support Mary @ her presentation. Pat Frank was part of the Project Team in Pittsburgh during the Leadership/ Mentorship weekend in July. Pat spoke on Leadership, Mentorship and Retention. Pat is continuing working with the Home Care and Palliative Care SIG as web master for the Virtual Community. Our present President Alice Veitz represented our chapter for the Leadership/ Mentorship weekend in July. Members Our Chapter nominated Sandy Lyon for the IOL Scholarhip for 2009. We have not heard yet if she has gotten it. Sandy will be our archives chair for 2009-2010. IOL Grants of $500 from the Chapter were presented @ the September meeting to Rosemary Wiggins, Pat Frank and Sandy Lyon.

Alice Veitz - President, Rosemary Wiggins - Treasure, Brenda Eastham - Secretary, Mary Turchi - Nominating Chair, Sandy Lyon - Archives, Elizabeth Tiger - Legislative Chair, Carol Rowan - Membership, Joy Hepkins (newsletter) & Pat Frank (web site) Multimedia, Sue Lorah & Lynne Quinn - Educational Chairs, Pat Frank & Anne Marie Gipe - Fund Raising Chairs, and Pat Frank - Award Chair At the September meeting the new board took office . Gifts were given to Hilde Leigh for her 2 years serving as treasure and Rosemary Wiggins who served many years as archives chair and is now taking over the treasure role. Alice Veitz our President thank them both on behalf of the chapter for the great job they did. Our chapter nominated Arlen Specter United States Senator for the 2009 ONS Public Service Award. He received the award in May from ONS ONS announced that Penns Woord Virtual Community Page ranks 10th for style, updates and honoring members. Over the past 10 years Consultants in Medical Oncology and Hematology Associates have supported us with a generous grant for our Oncology Educational Fair. The board voted to honor this year to honor the founder of this practice John D. Sprandio, M.D. not only for his support of our chapter but for the support of Oncology Nursing. He encourages and funds all his nurses to take the certification exam and the practice pays dues for both National and local Chapters. In his honor we donated a silver leaf on the tree in the Healing Garden @ Bryn Mawr's new outpatient building in Newtown Square, PA. Dr. Sprqndio was also honored @ our April's meeting.

We like to welcome you to our site. We are a small chapter of close to 100 members and received our chater in 1996. We cerebrated our tenth year in 2006 and were honored @ Congress in Boston. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, we would love for you to join us at one of our meetings or become a member.
